China has canceled a series of military and diplomatic contacts with the U.S. to protest the planned 6.5 billion USD package of American arms sales to Taiwan, American officials said on Monday. China has told the U.S. that it will not proceed with several senior-level visits and other plans for military cooperation, a Defense Department spokesman, Maj. Stewart Upton of the Marines said. The actions will not affect China ’s participation in nuclear talks with North Korea and Iran , American officials said.
