Debuts Tianjin's largest collection of fine whiskies and a "First in China" Clay Ageing Cocktail Programme
Four Seasons Hotel Tianjin has announced the launch of its Gusto Bar, with a lavish launching party named "Drinks Aficionado Night" on April 7, 2017, attended by 150 local elites and media journalists. Gusto Bar, designed to offer a unique space with great views of Tianjin's skyline and CBD, debuts Tianjin's largest collection of fine whiskies and a "First in China" Clay Ageing Cocktail programme. The guests also enjoyed Perrier-Jouet champagne served by the Hotel and the sponsor, Torres China Chateau; the art of handcrafted cocktails by the two well-known guest bartenders, Chris Lowder and Ethan Liu; as well as the mellifluous live jazz performance by the well-known singer, Micki Murphy, and her band.
Swanky, sexy and thoroughly modern, Gusto Bar sets a new standard for handcrafted cocktails and specially selected bourbons and whiskies. There is a sense of drama in the air thanks to the fireplaces and theatrical lighting, as well as the dazzling modern skyline of Tianjin visible through the floor-to-ceiling windows on the 9th floor of the Hotel. When the occasion calls for it, Gusto Bar offers two private rooms ideal for intimate conversations and for raising a glass.
During this launching party, Gusto Bar debuted the "First in China" Clay Ageing Cocktail programme by serving the first batch of well clay-aged cocktails that have been usually aged for 45 days and above. One of the signature clay-aged cocktails is named "Kiss of the Dowager," which contains dark rum, dry vermouth and absinthe, and aged in customized clays for 50 days. The clay-aged cocktails highly impressed the guests with their unique taste of full-bodied fragrance, smooth entrance, sweet aftertaste and more staying power. There are 20 signature cocktails on Gusto Bar's menu that are inspired by Tianjin's fusion of cultures and traditions, and focus on craftmanship and understated yet artistic presentation.
Offering Tianjin's largest collection of fine whiskies, Gusto Bar features at least 150 bottles and highlights "modern" whiskies, paired with signature "white glove" decanter service. Unique selected whiskies that you may only find at Gusto Bar include Mitcher's, Compass Box, Monkey Shoulder, Blanton's, Woodford and Tamdhu. With a particular focus on "modern" distillers, styles and countries of origin, and helmed by a strong head bartender, Gusto Bar is an intimate space for fine details, unexpected touches and Tianjin's most personal bar service.
To accompany the beverage menu, there is a globally inspired menu of light fare designed by Executive Chef Simon Song, encouraging social dining, late-night snacking and "skipping dinner". It offers a seamless integration of favourite bar bites, with an emphasis on European fare with an optional whisky pairing.
