A recent survey showed that the average monthly salary for Chinese white-collar workers stands at 7,599 yuan, which rose 3% after a recent fall.
The survey was related job search issues for white-collar workers. It was released by Zhaopin Ltd, one of China's most popular online job sites, which monitored the competitive situation of the job market and analyzed recruitment data from China's 37 major cities.
Beijing has the highest average monthly salary at 9,900 yuan. Some new first-tier cities, such as Chengdu, Hangzhou and Ningbo, have devoted assistance at a policy level, such as raising salaries and subsidies to attract professional talent, causing the national average salary to increase, the survey showed.
The report also illustrated the competitive job search climate in China. It quoted the competition index for jobs as 30.4, which means around 30.4 applicants vie for each job. Compared to previous data, competition continues to ease.
The 37 cities surveyed have moved up and down slightly in terms of job competition index rankings with no large changes, according to the report. Beijing's job market remains the most competitive, followed by Shenzhen and Shenyang.
The report also showed that favorable policies for attracting talent promoted by new first-tier cities like Shenyang, which requires workers for its fast-paced development, seem to be effective, relieving the pressure on traditional first-tier cities to some extent.
Senior management positions topped the list of high salaries and were the only role with an average monthly salary of over 20,000 yuan.
