A Jiangxi Province company forced employees to repeatedly slap each other in the face as part of what it described as a team building exercise.
Video of the strange event shows dozens of women from Jianhuayuan Beauty Center in Nanchang exchanging rapid blows in a decorated hall at an event celebrating the company's 14th anniversary on Sunday.
A manager explained the beatings were performed to "enhance solidarity."
"We are not doing this just to slap each other," said a manager at the beauty center surnamed Luo. "It's simply to enhance the company's solidarity."
The video shows several pairs of young women kneeling on a stage and taking swings at each other as a crowd looks on.
Behind the smack down was a LED screen that read "The Wolf Team." The name is most likely a reference to the "wolf principle," a popular managerial style at Chinese companies that encourages employees to use aggressive sales tactics.
