It has been observed since the early 1900’s and is now celebrated every year on the 8th of March. It is not affiliated with any one group but gives a reason to governments, women’s organizations, corporations and charities to honour, inspire and empower women of future.
Zhang Lijia was the guest speaker at the event. A well-known writer, journalist and public speaker who describes herself as a communicator between China and the rest of the world, she narrated her family story reflecting the changing role of women in China, and their challenges and hopes for the future. It was a truly inspirational speech and very appropriate for the event.
This event was well organized and was certainly an inspiration to all attendees.
