Liao Guoxun was elected mayor of Tianjin Municipality on Wednesday.
The election was held at the fourth session of the 17th Tianjin Municipal People's Congress.
Liao Guoxun, male, Tujia nationality, born in February 1963, from Chengdu, Sichuan, joined the Communist Party of China in July 1983, started work in August 1983, graduate degree in full-time university, Central Party School.
He is currently a member of the 19th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, deputy secretary of the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee, mayor, and secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Municipal Government.

Since April 2012, he has served successively as member of the Standing Committee and Secretary-General of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee, member of the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee, and Minister of the Organization Department, member of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, Secretary of the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection, and Director of the Municipal Supervision Committee.
In February 2020, he served as Deputy Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee, and President of the Party School of the Municipal Party Committee. In April, he was also the first deputy dean of China Pudong Leadership Academy.
In August 2020, he served as deputy secretary of the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee. In September, he served as the Acting Mayor of Tianjin and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Municipal Government. He was elected Mayor of Tianjin.
