Beijing's Chaoyang district has become the first in this metropolis to prioritize public housing to families with more than two children. The move aims to boost the latest policy of raising the birth rate.
Chaoyang district started the selection of house units for families, media reported, after the Beijing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development made an announcement in August saying that, in order to encourage a growing birth rate, families with "relatively more underaged children" can be prioritized in getting public housing.
Media reports show that there are nearly 3,000 households with more than two underaged children. According to the August notice, those families can be directly assigned with public housing without even registering or being put on a waitlist.
Regarding the housing type, those families will be given consideration based on the number of children in order to provide better living environment for those minors.
