A truck slammed into four roadside houses, including a shop, in a village in east China's Zhejiang Province early Thursday, destroying the buildings and injuring four people, a rescuer said.
Sources earlier said many villagers were buying vegetables in the shop in Shangru Village, Changxing County, Huzhou City, when the accident occurred at about 7 a.m.
But after completing the search, rescuers discovered only five people were in the houses at the time of the accident. Four of the five were slightly injured while one managed to escape without injury.
"They are all alive. The four slightly injured have been taken to hospital," said Shen Yanbin, a fire fighter involved in the rescue work.
The truck was transporting batteries.
Local police are investigating the cause of the accident.
