Electric vehicle maker Fisker Automotive is partnering with a Chinese company to sell its cars in Asia.

The Irvine-based manufacturer said Wednesday that it would lean on China Grand Automotive Group to help distribute, market and service the Fisker Karma. The group has more than 200 retail stores across China.

Fisker will sell the four-passenger Karma at 45 locations in North America. The luxury sedan will be able to run for 300 miles using pure and hybrid electric power. It will debut in China in April at the Shanghai Motor Show.

The company, which plans to sell 15,000 Karmas each year, said it has already received 3,000 pre-order requests for the vehicle. Chinese customers will begin receiving their vehicles next fall, and U.S. deliveries will launch this spring.

The Karma was officially unveiled in North America at the L.A. Auto Show in November. In late 2012, Fisker intends to begin producing other electric vehicle models.
