Tianjin, China will be the site of the 2013 IDA World Congress, widely recognized as the premier event for the global desalination and water reuse industry. This is the first time that China will host the World Congress, which is held every two years and brings together top decision makers in all aspects of desalination and water reuse from around the world.

The International Desalination Association (IDA) has selected Tianjin, China as the site for its 2013 IDA World Congress on Desalination and Water Reuse.

“Tianjin was named the host site for our 2013 World Congress after a diligent review of bids by our Site Selection Committee and subsequent vote by the full IDA Board. China is widely recognized as an important emerging market in desalination and water reuse. We look forward to a very successful event in 2013,” said Patricia A. Burke, Secretary General of the International Desalination Association.

Over the past few years, Tianjin has been the site for four desalination conferences jointly hosted by IDA and the Tianjin Municipal People’s Government. The most recent such event, The 2011 Desalination and Water Reuse International Forum – “Sustainable Solutions for the Future” – was held this April. A 17-person delegation traveled from Tianjin to IDA’s conference in Portofino, Italy to make their bid presentation.

Durban, South Africa was also considered as a location for the 2013 IDA World Congress.

Held every two years, the IDA World Congress is the premier event for the global desalination and water reuse community. The 2011 IDA World Congress takes place September 4-9 in Perth, Western Australia.
