Hotel Nikko Tianjin’s Tao Li Chinese restaurant held media reception celebrating their new chef and private room on Friday 12 August. Attending the celebration were around 100 press and media as well as corporate partner VIPs.
The celebration started with a presentation made by Mr. Dawson Tan, Food & Beverage Director. After several months refurbishment, Tao Li Chinese restaurant has enlarged its dining hall by replacing the walls of the private dining room with moveable partitions, enabling it to host all kinds of parties and wedding ceremony.
Tao Li also welcomed a renowned new Chinese chef, Mr. Jacky Ma, who specializes in Cantonese cuisine and has more than 15 years experience in the culinary industry, having worked in high profile hotels throughout Guangzhou. Chef Jacky approaches food with simple preparation and pays specific attention to the flavor and textures of his dishes, showcasing their rich and vibrant flavors. His signature dishes include Pan-fried Squid with Shichimi Sauce, Stewed Bitter Melon with Pork Ribs, and Stir-fried Eel with Home-Made Bean Sauce. He also brought his recommendation dish, Crisp Grass Carp, to the celebration. It’s a famous dish of Zhongshan seafood, renowned for being crisp and nourishing, with the protein 12% higher than the common grass carp. After Jacky Ma’s cooking demonstration, Chef Donald Tong performed a wonderful how-to-make-moon cake show, teaching guests the ingredients and process of traditional egg yolk lotus moon cake to welcome the forthcoming Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival on 12 September.
Altogether, Tao Li hosted a great night, with everybody enjoying the chefs’ great shows and the delicious finger food and dim-sum.
