Since 2010 and the start of the sea project, Tianjin has invested CNY 30 million to implement the “National Program for Science and Technology and the Sea”. This has been done to enhance the level of sea science and technology, promote marine science, and technology project implementation.
The marine science and technology of Tianjin is among the best in China due to a close coordination between national ministries, the city, sea research institutions, and 27 college and universities.
State and city marine businesses are comprised of over 10,000 local talents who specialize in sea related science and technological fields.
Sun Lianyou, Tianjin Oceanic Administration Deputy Secretary, said, science and technology project implementation will play an important role along with the sea talents gathered in Tianjin by integrating sea science and technology efforts to promote sea innovation, fostering strategic emerging industries, expanding the size of the sea economy, enhancing the core competitiveness of the sea industry and sea management level, and promoting economic development to accelerate the transformation of the sea.
