EVA Airways, one of Taiwan's major carriers, and its subsidiary Uni Air announced Tuesday the launch of new routes between the southern city of Kaohsiung and four cities in China with discounted offers to celebrate the route map expansion.
The newly opened services offer direct flights to Zhengzhou, Guilin, Tianjin and Kunming. The maiden Kaohsiung-Guilin flight took off on Tuesday. With the new routes, the two airlines now operate 19 flights a week to 10 destinations -- the most cross Taiwan Strait air services to the most destinations in China from Kaohsiung.
The airlines also decided to provide discounted tickets and packages for travelers to celebrate the new service expansion. A round trip ticket for the Zhengzhou route starts from NT$17,900 (US$592.5) per person, while the prices to Guilin, Tianjin and Kunming start from NT$15,800, NT$15,300 and NT$16,900, respectively. The discount lasts until Nov. 30, according to Uni Air. Travel packages to the four cities range between NT$16,900 to NT$30,900 with effect until the end of the year.
The new routes will be operated with McDonnell Douglas MD-90 aircraft, which are equipped with 12 seats in the business class and 140 seats in coach.
