The construction of the main structure of Binhai first city （Tianjin SM City Plaza）has officially started. This plaza will become the largest monomer constructed purely commercial shopping center in Asia.
The project covers an area of 430,000 square metres with an overall floor space of 530000 square metres. Construction is expected to take 600 days with a scheduled completion and opening at the end of 2013.
The project has a unique design consisting of three oval ring buildings. Included will not only be a super market and high-end department stores, but also a sports fitness facility, cultural theme park, and cinema which will combine the functions of food, culture, entertainment, shopping, relaxation and tourism into one. When finished, it will provide customers in Tianjin, Beijing, and the Bohai coastal region a world-class shopping centre and tourist resort.
