Swiss specialty chemical company Clariant has inaugurated a new facility in the Dagang district of Tianjin, China, producing pigment preparations in both liquid and solid forms.
Located in the Bohai Fine Chemicals Industry Park, the new plant is a joint venture between Clariant and Tianjin Bohai Chemical Industry Co. with a total investment of 120 million yuan (US$19 million). The plant is equipped with 16 production lines, together with warehouse, laboratories and office space, occupying a surface of 13,000 square meters (3.2 acres).
The products produced at the new plant find applications in the coating, plastics, and printing industries, and in a number of consumer products and industrial special applications.
Customers in China and in the region will be able to select from a wider choice of products tailored to their requirements as well as enjoying improved services with shorter lead time, the company said. In addition, local blending and special packaging are also made possible.
The new plant will be adding to Claraint’s existing pigment production capabilities worldwide with 12 pigment plants and 11 preparation plants across Europe, Asia and America. The company has a powder pigment plant in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.
Clariant has invested 200 million Swiss Francs (US$221 million, or 1.4 billion Chinese yuan) in Greater China during the past five years.
