Along with rapid economic development, Tianjin has stepped into a period of economic transformation. Many building complexes have appeared in recent years. Currently, Tianjin has 30 urban complexes under construction. As of January 2012, 7 urban complexes have been completed. The total area of construction is approximately 2.822 million square metres. By the end of 2012, 18 new complexes will open in Tianjin. These buildings will become new architectural landmarks within Tianjin.
Now, Tianjin Aqua City and Tianjin Joy City have opened. The projects of Hutchison Whampoa and Teda MSD are nearly finished. The construction of Hongxing International Square, Modern City, YOHO Bay, and Xihui Square are in full swing. The development of Tianjin’s economy has entered the fast lane. Building urban complexes will gradually become the way of development in central Tianjin.
Although the quantity of urban complexes in Tianjin has developed rapidly, the quality of the complexes is still of a low level. Modern urban complexes will combine shopping, leisure, and recreation together focusing on multiple-cultures and multiple types of consumption.
The Cade Tianjin International Project will be finished in 2014. It is a building complex with a shopping mall, office building, and apartments. Once completed, it should become a landmark building of Xiaobailou.
