Tianjin Binhai International Airport will increase the special fund that was set up to support the aircraft industry from CNY 50 million to CNY 100 million. This will accelerate Tianjin to become “the international aircraft logistic center in North China and a large gateway airline hub”.
The fund is the Special Cultivation Subsidy Fund used to attract airline companies and airline logistic companies to develop the airline transportation business in Tianjin. Since February 2007, Tianjin has provided subsidy of CNY 240 million for 31 airline companies including 80 airlines. During this period, the passenger volume increased from 3.861 million in 2007 to 7.554 million in 2011. The average growth rate per year reaches 24%.
The new regulation will play a key role in further improving the passenger and cargo output in Tianjin airport. Since it has been confirmed that the subsidy scale of the special fund will be expanded, many airline companies will increase their investment in Tianjin. This summer and autumn, there will be 92 transportation airline routes in Tianjin International Airport and the numbers of navigable cities are expected to reach 75. Either seen from the coverage of the airline network or from flight density, Tianjin International Airport has stepped into its new developing period.
