The reporter learned from Tianjin Economic & Technological Development Area (TEDA) that, the pile foundation engineering of Samsung factory in Western Area of TEDA has formally started a few days ago. After completion, this project will become one of the biggest overseas production bases of Korean Samsung Company.
Tianjin Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (Tianjin Samsung) mainly engages in producing LED, LCD TV, displayer, Blu-ray DVD and LCD module, etc. In order to be as competitive as possible, Tianjin Samsung decided to build a comprehensive and modernized factory at the Western Area of TEDA and to increase investment of 150 million dollars. After completion, this factory will become one of the largest overseas production bases of Korean Samsung Company. In this February, Tianjin Samsung and the Management Committee of TEDA have signed a Cooperative Agreement on Investment of Projects Moving into Western Area. It is reported that, after the completion of Phase I project, Tianjin Samsung will move forward to enlarge the scale, introduce new products and new technologies, and strives to make the production capacity , compared with 2012, increase one time or two times by the end of the “12th Five Year Plan” period.
As we learned, the commissioned Samsung factory is located in the Western Area of TEDA, in the west of Jiangtai Road, in the south of the North Avenue, in the east of the Zhongxinzhuang Road and in the north of the railway. It covers a floor area of 320 thousand square meters and has a structure area of 280 thousand square meters. The project has two phases, the first of which has an actual structure area of 110 thousand square meters and is devoted to the construction of the main factory buildings and welfare houses. The Phase I project is planned to consume an investment of RMB 560 million yuan (excluding the cost of land and supporting fees) and be completed generally by the beginning of June of 2013.
