The listed subsidiary of China Shenhua Group, Shenhua Energy Co., has received approval from the country's National Development and Reform Commission to build the second phase of its captive coal wharf at Tianjin Port, Shenhua Energy said Tuesday.
With a total investment of Yuan 3.82 billion ($602.1 million), the second phase of Shenhua's captive coal wharf will comprise three coal berths, including one capable of docking vessels with a capacity of 100,000 mt, one capable of docking 70,000-mt vessels, and one capable of docking 50,000-mt vessels, it said.
Since the completion of the first phase at Tianjin Port in 2006, Shenhua has been operating two dedicated coal berths at the port, as reported previously. Of the two coal berths, one is capable of docking vessels with a carrying capacity of up to 150,000 mt, and the other is capable of docking vessels with a carrying capacity of up to 70,000 mt.
