There’s nothing like great ambience, good service, delicious food and wonderful music all in one venue. The International Jazz Festival at Qing Wang Fu proved to be a fine example of all that!

The Tianjin Premier Jazz Festival kicked off on 27th July and popular jazz bands from the United States, Europe, and several other countries performed world-class jazz performances showcasing the beauty and glory of jazz music. Qing Wang Fu was one of the exclusive performance venues for the festival, with its gorgeous garden courtyard a perfect setting for the extraordinary charm of jazz music.

On July 28, the Adriana Jazz Band, composed of five musicians who have performed in America and Asia, played their traditional jazz, swing, funk and pop jazz renditions as guests – both local and foreigners - enjoyed music over dinner and beverages. Seven other jazz bands like Schumannize, Black Diamond, Alec Haavik Friction Alliance, Kyle Shepherd Trio, Bobby Watson and WVC Trio + 1 and Winnie Ho performed in Qing Wang Fu on different dates until the 7th of August. On one fine Sunday on 5th August, the Sirius Quartet who are born and bred in the downtown scene of New York City brought more magic and beauty to the courtyard garden as the Sirius Quartet blended the precision of classical music with the energy of a rock band. The four members of the band are all conservatory-trained musicians and are also highly-skilled improvisers who loved expanding beyond classical repertoire, dishing out works influenced by rock, jazz and other popular types of music. The band played three sets from 8:00 p.m to 10.

When it comes to food, delicious choices of both Western and Chinese foods were on offer in a special menu made only for the festival. BBQ Skewers served with the chef’s choice of potato and salad were obviously the guests’ favourites as the open-air venue seemed the ideal place for such delicious eats.

Since its formal opening late last year, Qing Wang Fu has hosted guests to special lunches, dinner and events and the International Jazz Festival is one of its biggest events this year…and truly successful at that!
