The upcoming Songkran Festival in Thailand has enticed more residents in Tianjin to book a trip to the Southeast Asian country for the fun of the water throwing festivities during the Thai New Year.
"One third of the tickets for our charter flights during the festival have been sold out on the first day (March 13th) after we finalized the details,” said Mu Huaiyun, general manager of the A-Mei Express Tour Agency.
Many tour guides said that the cost of a trip to Thailand during the festival this year is 10 percent higher than last year.
"A six-day tour to Thailand in the same period of last year was priced at 3,700 yuan per head, but this year that has risen to 4,000,” said a tour guide surnamed Zhang.
Ko Samet Island and Pattaya are among the most popular destinations for Tianjin tourists.
