Fenghuang county, Hunan Province said that visitors from the nearby Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture and Huaihua in the province, as well as Tongren, Guizhou Province will not be charged the new admission fee to the tourist town.

 

The county also said that students from across the country need only pay an admission fee of CNY 20 (USD 3.23) beginning Saturday.

 

Fenghuang town began charging visitors a CNY148 admission fee last Wednesday.

 

The county government said the admission fees had generated an income of CNY 2.27 million as of Saturday, but fewer people were visiting the town.
