Uruguayan President Jose Mujica visited the railway and port facilities in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin on Sunday as part of a visit aimed at securing Chinese investment for his country.
Mujica met with representatives of China Railway Materials, or CRM, in Tianjin, located 120 kilometers (75 miles) from Beijing.
China is “determined and willing” to invest in Uruguay, Uruguayan Presidential Press Office deputy director Joaquin Constanzo said.
“We have to think about how our countries’ production can incorporate value added and not just provide raw materials,” Mujica said.
The Uruguayan delegation also met with representatives of China Communications Construction Company, or CCCC, and China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, or CSIC, one of the Asian country’s largest shipbuilding firms.
