Singapore will be seconding a senior official to spearhead the physical planning and development of the 30-square kilometre Tianjin Eco-City in China.Â
Â
In a statement on Thursday, Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Investment and Development Co (SSTEC) said Mr Kok Poh June will join the company as deputy CEO in charge of Physical Planning and Development with effect from April 1.Â
Â
Mr Kok, an architect by training, was previously director (Biomedical Sciences, Cleantech, Media, Infocomms, and Electronics clusters) at JTC Corporation.Â
Â
In that role, he spearheaded the development of one-north -- a 200-hectare project in Singapore that combines educational institutes, residences and recreational amenities with research facilities and business park space.Â
Â
Mr Kok replaces Ms Tang Wai Yee, who was also seconded from JTC to SSTEC.Â
Â
Ms Tang concludes her secondment on March 31 and will return to Singapore.Â
Â
The Tianjin Eco-City is a landmark bilateral project between China and Singapore that involves both the government and private sector.Â
Â
Located in the Tianjin Binhai New Area, about 45 kilometres away from the Tianjin city centre, Tianjin Eco-City aims to provide a harmonious and sustainable community that meets the needs of an urbanising China.
