Stimulus spending outlined in China

Chinese cities and provinces said they would speed up investment plans to support the 4 trillion CNY stimulus package, official said last week. The central province of Hubei will spend 512.8 billion CNY, or 75 billion USD, to build nine eco-cities around the provincial capital Wuhan by 2020, Xinhua News Agency said on Sunday. Shanghai will accelerate urban infrastructure construction amounting to 500 billion CNY through 2010, the Shanghai Daily reported on Saturday. The southern island province of Hainan will invest 207 billion CNY over the next three years, focusing on agriculture, real estate, technology and infrastructure, Xinhua said on Saturday. Beijing will spend 90 billion CNY to complete the construction of three subway lines in the next two years, according to an official Web site Saturday.
