One of the two traffic police officers reportedly hit by a Tesla in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang Province died on Tuesday despite efforts to save him. Another police officer was also injured in the accident. An investigation into the traffic accident is underway.

This came as Tesla said on Tuesday that it will fully cooperate with the relevant authorities in the investigation after a Tesla vehicle reportedly ran into two traffic police who were on duty in Taizhou on Monday, leading to the injuries of two traffic police, with one in severe condition and later died on Tuesday. The driver of the vehicle has been kept under police supervision.

Until the results of the accident investigation are finalized, Tesla will not disclose any more information, the company said, while urging the public to rely on the results of the police identification and accident investigation over the matter.

Reports of the accident quickly rose on the hot search list of China's Twitter-like Sina Weibo on Tuesday, with up to 250 million viewers and thousands of comments. Many extended their concerns over safety and were keen to see further details relating to the investigation.
