Starting June 6, travelers leaving Guangdong via Shenzhen by plane, train, bus and boat no longer need to present negative COVID-19 test results obtained within 48 hours before departure.
The city has cleared all areas with medium and high COVID-19 infection risks.
However, travelers still need to wear masks, show green health codes and undergo body temperature checks before departure, according to the conference.
The same rules also apply to people leaving the province via neighboring Dongguan City, as the Dongguan campus of Guangzhou Xinhua University in Machong Township was downgraded to low-risk for COVID-19 transmission yesterday morning.
The eased travel restrictions on Shenzhen and Dongguan followed an announcement by the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission on Saturday that people leaving Guangzhou and Foshan no longer need to show negative nucleic acid test results obtained within 48 hours to leave the province.
