COVID-19 cases related to Nanjing airport outbreak found in 5 Chinese provinces

As of June 25th, five Chinese provinces have reported positive cases in COVID-19 testing related to the small-scale outbreak at an international airport in Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu Province this week.

Mianyang, in Southwest China's Sichuan Province, announced on Saturday that it reported one case on Friday from nucleic acid testing among people returning from the medium and high risk areas in Nanjing. The case, a female, 26, flew from Nanjing Lukou International Airport to Mianyang on July 18, according to the local health authority.

Nanjing has launched citywide nucleic acid testing for COVID-19 since 17 workers at Lukou airport tested positive on Wednesday. The eastern Chinese city on Friday reported 12 new locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases and four asymptomatic ones, local health authorities said on Saturday.

By Friday, the number of locally transmitted confirmed cases in the latest COVID-19 outbreak in the capital of Jiangsu Province had risen to 35, with another 18 asymptomatic ones, according to the Nanjing municipal health commission.

A total of 41 cases related to the small-scale outbreak at Lukou airport had been reported in four Chinese provinces as of Thursday - Jiangsu, Northeast China's Liaoning Province, South China's Guangdong Province and East China's Anhui Province, according to local health authorities. Relevant testing work continues.
