Tianjin University issued a notice about delay the start of the upcoming autumn semester, clarifying that the time for undergraduates to return to school will be adjusted to August 21-22, and the return date for freshmen will be adjusted to August 25-26. Students who have been to medium or high-risk areas are not allowed to return to school.

Tianjin University of Finance and Economics and Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts also issued notices about the return date of the upcoming autumn semester.

Schools in China's areas classified as having medium or high risks of COVID-19 outbreaks may delay the start of the upcoming autumn semester, an education official said Thursday.

Liu Peijun, an official with the Ministry of Education, told a press conference that should there exist the medium or high-risk areas right before the start of the new semester, schools in the areas will adopt postponement accordingly.
