The Beijing government clarified Wednesday that it doesn’t allow shared electric bicycle services in the city. The Municipal Transportation Commission has imposed administrative penalties nine times on shared electric bicycle operators involving eight brands as of the end of June.
In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Beijing Municipal Non-motorized Vehicle Management Regulations, the Municipal Public Security Traffic Management Bureau will investigate and deal with traffic violations such as driving unregistered electric bicycles on the road. According to the regulations, if you drive an unregistered electric bicycle on the road, the driver will be fined 20 yuan.
The transportation department reminded the public to pay attention to funds and their own safety, and refuse to use any brand of Internet rental electric bicycles.
