Shanghai will loosen the requirements for nucleic acid test reports to ride public transportation or enter public places to within 72 hours from the current 48 hours from June 1.

People wanting to leave Shanghai are still required to provide a 48-hour PCR test negative report plus a 24-hour antigen test report, or a 24-hour PCR test report.

Those coming or returning to the city must have a 48-hour PCR test report, according to the city government.

Shanghai makes it a law for people visiting public places and residential areas to have their health information checked before entering and allows venue managers or operators to deny entrance if someone fails to cooperate.

The law was passed by the 40th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 15th Shanghai People's Congress on Tuesday, as Shanghai's measure against COVID-19 has entered a period of consolidating its fruits and locals are resuming work and life little by little.

According to the law, the managers and operators of public places or residential communities shall conduct verification of health information as required, and report to the relevant government departments in a timely manner if they find that the information does not meet the requirements for epidemic prevention and control.
