The Beijing-Shanghai high speed railway will not run as fast as currently, following a request from Ministry of Railways that the top speed be reduced from 380 to 300 kilometers per hour.
As a result, a trip from Tianjin (west railway station) to Shanghai (Hongqiao station) will last an estimated five hours, around one more hour than previously.
It is predicted that other high speed trains in Tianjin will also decrease their speeds, including trains between Beijing and Tianjin.
The new regulation aims at improving the security and safety of the rail network and to make the whole trip steady and comfortable.
