Robotic technology will be in the spotlight at the China International Industry Fair which will display the latest Chinese technological advances in developing robots.
Â
Intelligent robots, or irob, have started to play an important role in industry, disaster rescue and routine life and this will be highlighted at the fair, experts said.Â
Â
"The irob is actually a software robot which can connect with cell phone, television and a control sensor at home," said May Mei, a researcher at Shanghai Zhizhen Web Technology Co, the developer. "People can chat with the robot (equipped) with artificial intelligence and give orders like searching the Internet for information and controlling electric appliances. So far it has been widely used by the government and telecommunication companies on their Internet customer service platform."
Â
Mei said the company is working on an irob system to control all home electric appliances through a human voice.
Â
Zhejiang University, the developer of two robot table tennis players, said developing them has spawned off other technologies like quick vision recognition and this has been introduced to industrial and civil use.

The five-day fair opens today at the Shanghai New International Expo Center in Pudong New Area.
