China's copyright and Internet watchdog has shut down 750 websites for rights infringements, under a campaign launched in June 2014.Â
Â
440 cases been identified with 66 of them sent already to the courts. Violators have been fined more than 3.5 million CNY in total.Â
Â
Duan Yuping, an official from the National Copyright Administration, says the payment system related to materials reprinted online needs to be improved.
Â
"Through investigating the case, the National Copyright Administration hopes to build a principle that online reprinting should abide by the Copyright Law, as well as enhance the cooperation between the old and new media, and finally lead to a win-win situation."
Â
The Copyright Administration says authorities will next focus on copyright cases on music and writings.
Â
The administration has already strengthened supervision over the country's 20 major video websites regarding their obtaining and use of copyrights.Â
